4th Annual BarnArt Show

HGAC's BarnArt Exhibit was held June 19-22 at the GAR Hall. 
Prizes were awarded to the following artists and photographers:

Adult Fine Art: 
Dianne Lorden's pastel drawing, "Old Yeller Barn" took first prize;
Jim McCabe's acrylic, "South Mountain" took second prize
and Rebecca Brown's pen and ink drawing, "Klingle Farm" was awarded
Honorable Mention.

Adult Photography:
Sandra Sassani's photograph took first prize,
Ruth Sullivan's photo took second prize
and Janet Powers' landscape photo took Honorable Mention.

Student first prize in Fine Art:
 Went to Mitchell Bear for his colored pencil drawing of "Hoffman Barn."

This was the fourth annual BarnArt Exhibit, which references Adams County's barns and is sponsored by the Barn Preservation committee.  It is part of HGAC's ongoing effort to encourage appreciation of historic barns in
Adams County.  The exhibit was part of the Gettysburg Fringe Festival.

Once again, artists are encouraged to enter HGAC's Fourth Annual BarnArt Exhibit.  Adams County barns are the subject; style can be representational or abstract, and may be any art medium, including photography.  Categories for BarnArt are: Adult Fine Art; Adult Photography; Student Fine Art and Student Photography.  Cash prizes for Adult categories are First, $100, Second, $75 and Third $50.  Student prizes are $50 First Prize and $25 Second and Third $10.  Because of limited space in the GAR hall, we can only accept one entry per person.  Entry fee for Adults is $10 and $5 for Students.

Images of the work to be submitted may be sent, with a check for the appropriate entry fee made

to "HGAC/BarnArt" ... HGAC, PO Box 4611, Gettysburg, PA  17325.  

Submissions must be postmarked no later than May 22, 2010.  Artwork must be brought to the GAR Hall at 53 East Middle St, Gettysburg between 10AM and noon on Saturday, June 5.  The exhibit will be part of the Gettysburg Fringe Festival, and will be open Thursday and Friday, June 17 and 18 6-9PM; Saturday, June 19 10AM-4PM, with the artists' reception and awards ceremony at 2PM and People's Choice award at 3PM; and Sunday from 12 until 4PM.
